Black Friday.

Cyber Monday.

Small Business Saturday.

I’m sure you know what those days are. Black Friday has been around since I can remember. Cyber Monday is about 10 or so years old. Small Business Saturday is even newer.

But the newest? Giving Tuesday.

Why the heck did it take us so long to create one day to give back amidst the shopping craziness that surrounds Thanksgiving?!

Here at Balcony Life, we are striving minimalists. We don’t promote consumption. We try to save all our pennies and spend them on adventures, not things. That’s why when we found out #GivingTuesday was a thing, we were PUMPED.

We love spending time with our family, helping friends, and giving to those in need. Relationships are the cornerstone of who we are as a blog and as individual people. Bottom line, we care about people. People we love, people we know, and even people we don’t know. Yes, dear reader, we also care about you!

So when The Adventure Project approached me about becoming an advocate, I was like, “HELL YES.” Entrepreneurship is very near and dear to my heart, so when I initially heard about The Adventure Project a few months ago, I knew I had to support their mission.  The Adventure Project is a nonprofit that empowers entrepreneurs in developing countries to end extreme poverty.  Their goal for 2017 is to create 1,000 jobs. With our donations, you and I provide specialized support like job training, tools, financial management training and uniforms. With their new skills, these individuals will be able to earn a living, send their kids to school and care for 500 people in their community.

The Adventure Project’s mission and process differ from other charities in that you aren’t just helping one person; you are providing that one person with tools for the rest of their life that they will use to impact hundreds more. Your support creates a cascading effect that makes a measurable difference in many peoples’ lives.

We are so happy to support a non-profit that empowers individuals to create a better life for themselves and others.  Whether you decide to support The Adventure Project or not, we hope you’ll join us in the spirit of #GivingTuesday today. Give a little bit of your money, your time, or your attention to someone, and see the difference it makes in their life and yours.

Cheers to friendship and giving!
